having recently moved to Lopez and purchased a home with a bathroom in desperate need of a remodel, Alan bravely took on this retired couple from the building industry with a plan that was basically drawn on a paper napkin. There are almost always issues that come up when remodeling an occupied home, and there were, Alan handled every one of them quickly and to our satisfaction. We ended up with exactly what we wanted and how we wanted it thanks to Alan and his team we couldn't be happier.

We did an extensive remodel of our home on Shaw Island, while living and working in Seattle; during Covid with ferry problems and the need to bring every single worker, part, appliance and component over by boat. While Alan couldn't make those obstacles go away, he was an outstanding communicator and collaborator. He commands respect and loyalty from sub-contractors and always finds a solution. He is fully accountable as the inevitable happens and is always kind, empathetic and patient. The quality of the remodel is outstanding, and we are so happy we hired Swal'lech to bring it to fruition.

Alan and his team had already done a masterful job on our interior remodel on Lopez Island so naturally we went straight to them for replacing and expanding our deck. We got wonderful suggestions about the design we had in mind and Alan collaborated with us carefully as we chose materials and made other decisions that made sense for our budget, including re-use of as much of the old deck's foundation as possible. The finished project is great and we receive nothing but compliments on it.

After many setbacks and delays due to forces out of everyone’s control, we finally ended up with two stunning new showers. Having a house remodeled when you are off island and totally reliant on your contractor to keep you informed of progress and to make smart decisions is a daunting concept. We could not have been happier with Alan and his team. Alan's regular communication, including frequent pictures, helped us stay informed every step of the way. The design input from Alan was fantastic, and his workers and subcontractors truly were artists that paid attention to tiny details. In spite of being slammed with a pandemic in the middle of construction, Alan kept the work moving forward steadily and the end product (virtually a full makeover of the entire house) is a thing of beauty. Based on how well Alan made suggestions that kept cost under control no matter what problems were found behind our walls, we will probably just hire him for future projects without takings bids. If there were more than five starts to check I would check them all.

Swal'lech executed a big project for us on Lopez Island in 2018-2019 that included two (separate) kitchen remodels, hardwood floor installation and interior paint. They did a great job, and they made it easy for us to connect to 3rd party vendors to choose options like cabinets and appliances. We had many small requests and changes during the process and they were reasonable and accommodating which we really appreciated. I can definitely recommend Alan and his team to anyone.

Swal'lech Construction completed a major remodel on our Lopez Island home during 2019. We found them wonderful to work with as well as professional, competent, efficient, flexible and reliable. The project was finished on schedule and they have a penchant for following through with all the details and finishing touches.
